Digital health membership ID for check-in, consultations and prescriptions

Maccabi case study

NFC wallet passes make Healthcare ID efficient and convenient

Maccabi is a leading healthcare insurer, providing medical services to over 2.5M citizens from over 300 locations in Israel. They previously used mag-stripe cards to identify their customers and have replaced this with the latest contactless technology – ‘just tap’ NFC membership passes in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. Dot Origin’s VTAP NFC readers are deployed throughout the organisation at kiosks, front desks and doctors’ PCs, enabling simple, swift and secure patient check-in.

With over 15 different IT systems and applications in use across the estate, Dot Origin worked with Maccabi to ensure that the old mag-stripe readers could be swapped out with minimal disruption. The Dot Origin team also advised on how to issue and manage NFC Wallet passes and helped to ensure a smooth and successful rollout – the first of its kind in Europe & Middle East.
