Ascot Racecourse case study
Ascot Racecourse enhance visitor experience with NFC technology site-wide
Ascot racecourse is one of the UK’s oldest sporting institutions, most famous for its annual ‘Royal Ascot’ event. An early adopter of NFC for contactless digital ticketing, Ascot have always pushed the boundaries of technology whilst retaining their traditions and historical legacy. Once the infrastructure for issuing NFC-enabled mobile wallet tickets to their customers was in place, Ascot came to Dot Origin for NFC readers that could be used in the bars, restaurants and other customer service locations.
Through an integration with the on-site PoS system provider, Kappture, VTAP NFC readers have been used to swiftly and securely identify different NFC tickets, membership IDs and vouchers during the transaction flow. Cloud-connected VTAP readers have also been deployed to redeem digital vouchers at outdoor locations around the race ground, reducing the costs and complexity of the infrastructure needed.
George Vaughan, Head of Technology at Ascot Racecourse, says
“The VTAP NFC readers have become an important part of our infrastructure, supporting our digital transformation towards a contactless visitor experience and enabling our NFC tickets and vouchers to be easily checked and redeemed throughout the site. Dot Origin’s support has been excellent and we’re very glad to be working with the experts in this field.”
