VTAP wallet readers auto-select the relevant NFC loyalty card, from Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, on a device the instant it comes in range – consumers can identify themselves and interact with just a ‘tap’ of a phone or Apple Watch. No physical cards to dig-out, no apps to open or QR-codes to locate and present for scanning.
Loyalty points updates, coupons, offers and response notifications are sent in an instant from the loyalty system direct to the customer’s phone.
Because consumers love the convenience, brands and retailers can drive adoption of their own apps – by making that the way for consumers to get a digital loyalty card and add it to their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
Loyalty at the PoS
With a VTAP NFC wallet reader connected to a POS terminal, consumers can use their digital loyalty cards to earn and use loyalty points in the regular way – but with ‘just tap’ convenience.
Transactions using NFC enabled digital loyalty cards in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet provide more data than QR code or mag-stripe solutions. Interaction data can include reader information and pinpoint location to enrich CRM data.
Connecting PoS & loyalty platforms
Where POS systems are not already connected to a loyalty platform – VTAP can bridge the gap.
VTAP Pro readers can plug-in to a local POS terminal and also connect to cloud-based loyalty or CRM systems. This allows ‘tap’ data to be sent to the loyalty platform, and the responses received by the VTAP reader, such as personalized discounts, or redemption authorizations for completed stamp cards, to be pushed to the connected POS terminal.
So even where PoS and loyalty platform aren’t integrated:
VTAP can deliver personalized, dynamic offers from loyalty to PoS – such as ‘Tap2Win’ gamified incentives where the loyalty system determines a discount level in real time.

No dedicated drivers or development software tools required. VTAP readers are designed to be easy to configure and manage, with much greater flexibility than card payment readers. Avoid the delays and costs incurred throughout the lifecycle of physical cards – from procurement, printing and distribution, to administering lost or damaged cards. Digital cards can be issued immediately via SMS, email or app, with easy online management. Removing the use of paper and plastics for physical cards reduces environmental impacts as well.

The VTAP reader range includes USB, RS-232 and Bluetooth interfaces for PoS terminals and the VTAP Pro also features WiFi connectivity for direct integration with cloud loyalty and CRM platforms.
