Using secure corporate ID credentials
Using NFC-enabled mobile wallet credentials for corporate ID is the modern solution for controlling access to buildings as well as other common applications such as secure print and cashless vending. Our VTAP readers are fully compatible with both Apple and Google secure access credential platforms.

Super convenient, quick verification
There’s no standing around opening individual apps and making specific phone gestures or phone-scrolling to find a QR code that then needs to presented for scanning while avoiding glare and reflections.
Mobile phones are always close-at-hand, so using them to open doors and turnstiles is naturally easier than searching for physical ID cards – which commonly get forgotten or lost, and sometimes stolen.
Highly secure
Wallet pass data exchanged over NFC with VTAP readers is securely encrypted, leveraging the robust security architectures of Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.
Unlike common RFID access card implementations, which allow cards to be cloned all to easily, an organisation’s NFC wallet passes can only be accessed by their authorised reader hardware.
Unlike Bluetooth solutions that can operate over longer ranges, and may mistakenly allow access because there happens to be a valid credential in range, NFC interaction are confined to very close-range operation.
Unlike QR codes, NFC passes can’t be copied through simple screen-grabs or photos.
Fast, efficient & economical
Immediate issuance via secure mobile app, with easy online management. Avoiding the delays and costs incurred throughout the lifecycle of physical ID’s – from procurement, printing and distribution, to administering forgotten, lost or stolen cards. Users can block a lost or stolen device via the appropriate ‘Find My Device’ app – restoring their wallet contents when they have recovered or replaced their device.
The ongoing costs of Bluetooth access credentials have proved to be uneconomic for the majority of applications.
Kinder to the environment
Digital wallet passes avoid the need for plastics used to produce physical ID’s such as cards, fobs and wristbands.
Additional engagement capabilities
Push notifications via wallet passes can keep staff connected – delivering reminders or tailored messages that can also be triggered by the user’s location.
VTAP readers – designed for access control
Industry standard connectivity
The VTAP reader range includes Wiegand and RS-485 connectivity options for door, gate and turnstile control.
Apple ECP 2.0 certified
While Google Wallet’s regular ‘Smart Tap’ NFC passes can be used for all applications, Apple Wallet requires particular pass types for certain access control applications. Apple’s ECP 2.0 (Enhanced Contactless Polling) protocol is required for corporate badge access passes. VTAP readers are certified for ECP 2.0 by Apple. To issue Apple Wallet passes for corporate access, the organization is required to provide its staff with an approved app, employing multifactor user authentication, that can be used for secure pass issuance to Apple Wallet.
Flexible form factors
VTAP readers are available in compact casings ideal for mullion and wall mounting, as well as PCB modules (with customizable aerials) for inclusion within turnstiles and other access control equipment. VTAP reader circuit boards are also available with a conformal coating for weatherproofing.
Legacy & mixed media support
In addition to NFC wallet passes, VTAP readers also support popular RFID technologies – such as MIFARE. This mixed media support makes migrations from plastic to digital cards seamless and easy to manage.
Straightforward set-up
Integration effort is minimised – with no requirement for dedicated drivers or development software tools. VTAP readers are designed to be easy to configure and manage.
