VTAP downloads
VTAP readers can be easily upgraded in the field using secure firmware update files. Other drivers, developer resources and downloads are also available here. First, choose your reader type:
To update your device in the field, please identify the hardware revision by looking in ‘boot.txt’ or using the ‘?b’ command. Download the appropriate firmware file below and copy or send it to your VTAP reader. The firmware update will be applied after a reboot and the file will be automatically removed if the update is successful.

The VTAP100 USB does not need any drivers to operate since it appears as one or more standard devices that are recognised by most operating systems – keyboard, mass storage and virtual COM port (VCP). Please use the appropriate VCP driver below for Windows 7 virtual COM port support:
VTAP VCP driver for Windows 7 (for VTAP100 v5 hardware onwards)
VTAP100 VCP driver for Windows 7 (for VTAP100 v4 hardware or earlier)

NOTE: If your VTAP50 is currently running v2.1.12.2 or earlier, you will need to rename the downloaded file to ‘firmware.dat’ before you copy it to your VTAP reader. You can check the current firmware version in ‘boot.txt’ or by sending the ‘?b’ command.
